Happy Monday

After the day of rain yesterday, I felt a need for sunny upbeat colors, so I wore a pair of vintage 90's graphic print leggings in the style of Versace.  I got lots of compliments, so maybe people are ready for this look.

3.25.12

Maybe because it's been raining all day and the sun just came out.  Or maybe because it's been a tough week, here's a little brightness in the form of an 80's graphic sweater.  Kind of crazy, I know, but I had to do it.

Sweater, skirt, necklace, bangles all thrifted.  Rings: Jewelmint and gifted. Earrings: handmade gift.  Shoes: Miu Miu

3.11.12

I've been off of blogging for a while, a mini-vacation of sorts and been intending to get back.  I've been busy with other stuff, my ebay store, and selling stuff to people in person.

Here is an outfit I wore the other day - a Missoni for Target sweater which I didn't wear because I wanted to give it a little time to not seem so obvious.  The brown sheer knit skirt looks like Missoni, but is some cheap 90's brand with the tag cut out.  The wooden necklace also looks very Missoni and is thrifted from Salvation Army.  I'm also wearing mixed African bangles, all thrifted. The ring was a gift.

Cheap & Chic

I know, it's been far too long. I was inspired today by my beautiful friend Wendy Allamby (see blog-she's inspired me before) when I ran into her today at Mystic Journey.  She is an incredible reader and she works with animals as well.  Check Wendy out if you're on the West side of LA.

I was admiring her beautiful ensemble of a black chiffon drapey mini dress, patterned tights, punk booties and gilded hippie head piece topped off by a giant faux fur yeti jacket.  She looked amazing! I only wish I had taken a picture!

We were talking fashion and she, as usual, complemented me, though I was dressed down today in an L.L. Bean men's sweater, jeans and hush puppies.  Though I did add feather earrings.  I told her that I had dressed a bit more like myself the day before when I went ring shopping with my sis and future brother-in-law.  She wanted a picture of the outfit, so here it is.

Just to prove that it's not hard to dress nicely with very little $, the dress I'm wearing is from Old Navy, but it reminds me of something Michael Kors would do.

Most days you'll find me in clothes that are recycled or thrifted.  I inevitably get the most compliments on those treasures I have found on the cheap.  You can too!

Versace For H&M

With the recent Missoni madness at Target, I completely missed that Versace is doing a line with H&M debuting November 17th.  I have been thrifting a lot of early 90's Versace inspired pieces lately: mad colors, scarf prints and sexy slip dresses.

I was flipping through my Versace/Avedon book and getting exited by the bold prints, color blocking and the orgy style group shots.  Gianni Versace's collaborations with Richard Avedon go way back to the company's beginnings.

I remember staring at one ad, in Vogue around 1980 featuring Beverly Johnson, Rosie Vela, Kelly LeBrock, Lisa Taylor and Kim Alexis arms entwined and around a group of gorgeous male models with Brooke Shield's eyebrows, all laughing.  The women wore shiny bikini tops, long open striped print jackets with matching pants; the men were shirtless.  I tried to identify what it was they had, because at 13 years old, I wanted it.
