I've always thought model/actress Marisa Berenson was beautiful in those old issues of Vogue that my mother had stashed in the attic and I used to pour over in the humidity of the hot Indiana summers. I loved the extravagant hairdos and swirling 60's prints she wore in the editorials.
She was also a bona fide jet setter. Before super models were super she was fabulous. She and her sister, Berry (a photographer married to Anthony Perkins) were twin images of health and vitality, smiling stylish princesses. Their fashion pedigree included being the granddaughters of visionary designer Elsa Schiaparelli.
Marisa looks incredible in photos I've seen of her lately. Her sense of style is impeccable and her stash of jewelry is beyond fabulous.
If you haven't checked out the movie I Am Love, please do. It is visually sumptuous and Tilda Swinton's character's clothing is designed by Jil Sander's Raf Simmons. Marisa's portrayal of a cool Italian matriarch of a wealthy Milanese family is flawless.

I too loved looking at photo's of Marisa in all the Vogue mags and loved all her jet setting adventures back in the 60's. Still love her, and thanks for mentioning the movie 'I Am Love', will have to see it all the more now knowing Marisa is in it.
ReplyDeleteThe movie is quite visually stunning. I hope you enjoy it. I can't tell you how many libraries I've frequented over the years sitting holding bound periodical copies of Vogue. I can almost smell the mustiness of old magazines now. : )
ReplyDeleteShe is great in Barry Lyndon.
