SANTA FE STYLE

Recently one of my closest friends came through LA on her way moving from San Francisco to Santa Fe.

Now I have had visions, and even written poetry about one day living there.  I am old woman, in my 90s with a dog and a jeep and a daily painting habit.  In the afternoons I go to a bar outside of town where I know everyone's name and they know mine.

In college I had a boyfriend from Santa Fe.  I remember landing in Albuquerque for the first time and being blown away by the stark beauty. I needed to write what I was feeling down.  I grabbed the nearest thing, a barf bag, and wrote.

The terrain was so different from where I grew up in Indiana.  Where Indiana was lush, New Mexico was desert; with soaring unexplainable rocks and plateaus and endless skies.

I returned a few times after that, falling in love more and more each time.  In contemplating an upcoming trip to New Mexico to see my friend, I've become enamored of Santa Fe influenced style.

Some designer inspirations, especially Ralph Lauren:

BOY CHIC

I have been feeling like a return to wearing a suit lately.  And when I say suit, I mean a men's style buttery gold hand stitched, wide pant leg silk number that I got at the FIT flea market way back in the early 90's.

And then there's the Ralph Lauren navy pinstriped high waisted pant (with buttons for suspenders) with a double breasted jacket that I tried to sell to Wasteland last year without success.  Oh, well, I win- I get to wear it again.

I'm thinking of wearing them with lacy camisole tops and Doc Martins or a boy's button down with sexy bra showing, or maybe with a flip flop or sandal.

I'm loving the masculine feminine vibe: borrowing a hat from my husband or his jeans and wearing them with something ultra feminine.
